Join us for the launch of Perth's virtual #heartofgold Discovery Trail at a free community event in Elizabeth Quay on Saturday 7 October from 10am-3pm.

Embark on a virtual gold trail of discovery with us from Elizabeth Quay to The Perth Mint and discover the story of a city built on gold and its importance to Western Australia’s development and future.

The #heartofgold Discovery Trail will take you on a real gold adventure with augmented reality, remarkable audio stories, fun widgets, vivid videos, timeless photos and interactive games via the Heart of Gold Australia app.

Elizabeth Quay will be a hub of free golden activity throughout the launch day, with trailblazers having the chance to win an array of prizes including real gold nuggets from Ramelius Resources* when they pan for gold with The Perth Mint or complete the trail on the day!

To mark the opening of the trail, Member for Perth John Carey MLA will unveil a replica of the largest gold nugget found in WA, the Golden Eagle, at 10am. A special Welcome to Country ceremony will also be performed.

Trailblazers will receive a commemorative #heartofgold medallion and go in the draw to win a Ramelius Resources gold nugget* on completion of the trail. During the month of October, The Perth Mint is offering a 25% discount on admissions to their gold exhibition.

Launch event attractions in Elizabeth Quay will also include the opportunity to see inside a gold mine using virtual reality with Mining Education Australia, face painting, a virtual gold scavenger hunt and #heartofgold social media competitions. You will also get VIP access to the gold panning and virtual reality experience by unlocking the clues on the virtual gold scavenger hunt in Elizabeth Quay, via the Heart of Gold Australia app.
