Following the launch of Perth's first virtual gold trail in 2017, we will again celebrate WA’s heart of gold at a free event and launch of the #heartofgold Discovery Trail in reverse at The Perth Mint on Saturday 20 October.

Embark on a virtual golden adventure with us as you discover Perth’s golden secrets on the #heartofgold Discovery Trail, with new interactive widgets and treasures to collect along the journey!

The official opening will take place in the forecourt of The Perth Mint at 10:00am, with a host of fun, free gold-themed activities for the whole family. Then set out on the trail to discover 11 golden sites through the city to the iconic Golden Eagle nugget replica in Elizabeth Quay.

There will be gold sponsored giveaways to collect along your journey, an elusive 'golden prospector' to hunt down, a social media competition to enter and rewards awaiting you at the finish line!

Using the free Heart of Gold Australia app, travel through time to unravel the story of a city and nation built on gold and its importance to the State’s development and future.

We will have something for everyone, with the opportunity to explore a gold mine using virtual reality with the WA School of Mines, have your faced painted gold, get snapped in our interactive photo booth and more.

The community launch event to open the reverse trail coincides with Heritage Perth’s Heritage Weekend celebrations, as we celebrate and revisit the many iconic places throughout our city.

The reverse #heartofgold Discovery Trail will contain new and exciting content to be uncovered - immerse yourself in augmented reality games, reveal captivating photos, listen to historic tales, discover fun widgets and so much more, via the free Heart of Gold Australia app.
