Mining for the leaders of tomorrow - WA Mining Club Scholarship applications are now open for the 2019 program.

Victoria Arrowsmith, winner of the Female Student in a Technical Discipline in the Mining Sector, with Newmont Australia Regional Senior VP Alex Bates and Group Executive of Environment and Social Responsibility Ken Ramsey.

Now in it’s 16th year, the WA Mining Club scholarship program couldn’t be more timely as the industry faces a potential talent shortage with mining engineering and metallurgy enrollments now at their lowest levels since 2000.

The Gold Industry Group (GIG) congratulates industry partner the WA Mining Club, and member sponsors Newmont Australia and BGC Contracting, who continue to recognise the need to support the next generation of leaders, encouraging them to continue their tertiary studies in mining related disciplines.

This year, nine $10,000 scholarships will be awarded at the WA Mining Club’s Annual Scholarships Awards luncheon on Thursday 30 August 2018, 12pm - 2:30pm, where the Minister for Mines and Petroleum Hon. Bill Johnston MLA, will present the awards.

The Female Student in a Technical Discipline in the Mining Sector scholarship is co-sponsored by Newmont Australia and the Indigenous scholarship is co-sponsored by BGC Contracting.

If you would like to provide support towards the next generation of students – either financially, through mentoring, or assisting the scholarship alumni build their network, please contact WA Mining Club President, Kirsty Danby to find out how you can make a difference.

Applications will close on 16 July 2018. More information on the Scholarship program and awards event visit the WA Mining Club website.
