FESTIVAL EXPERIENCES
Miner’s Memorial
6:30pm Thursday 2 December
Saint Barbara’s Square on Hannan Street, Kalgoorlie-Boulder.
The Miners Memorial Service is held to honour the men and women who have lost their lives servicing the mining industry over the past century. It is attended by family members, mine management and mines rescue personnel, with members of the public welcome to pay their respects and lay floral tributes if they wish. A symbolic miner’s lamp will be lit to signify the beginning of the Festival.
St Barbara’s Parade
Sunday 5 December
Hannan Street, Kalgoorlie-Boulder.
Undoubtedly the highlight of the Festival, the annual Street Parade is a fun-filled extravaganza for the whole family. Thousands gather to watch enormous pieces of mining equipment rumble down historical Hannan Street, such as the KCGM 793C haul truck, along with community organisations, schools, animals, prospectors and mines rescue demonstrations.
There will also be plenty of pre-parade activities at Saint Barbara’s Square on the day.
ST BARBARA’S FESTIVAL IS A FREE EVENT OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.
