KCGM is making final preparations ahead of the 20th anniversary of St Barbara’s parade, when once again, a 793C haul truck will rumble down Hannan Street in Kalgoorlie-Boulder and provide an awe-inspiring finale with a special significance.
The 793C haul truck will be available for viewing at the top of Hannan Street for an hour before the parade begins, when members of the public can get a photo in front of the truck.
KCGM’s latest Safety Innovation Award recipients have chosen to donate their wins to three local organisations: Full Circle, Goldfields Women’s Refuge and the Headspace Kalgoorlie branch.
The three award winners for this quarter were Matthew Adams from Open Pit Mining, Kate Scolyer and Kevin Barry from Processing and the Mount Charlotte Underground Operational Supervisors.
To mark the 2019 NAIDOC celebrations, KCGM unveiled a haul truck tray designed and painted by local Aboriginal artist Jason Dimer.
The design reflects the connection between mining, people and the environment, and serves as a visual reminder of the importance of reconciliation in Kalgoorlie-Boulder.
KCGM have launched an innovative three-year project in the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder, where the public can give feedback and share ideas, to better understand the community’s sentiment toward its operations.
The project, Local Voices, invites community members to face-to-face consultations and confidential surveys, so people can see the direct impact and benefit of their feedback in influencing KCGM’s business decisions.
KCGM has announced significant changes to its Parental Leave Policy, joining its Joint Venture owner Newmont Goldcorp Australia in setting a new industry standard within Australia.
These changes help address the gender pay gap that occurs when parents are out of the workforce for extended periods. KCGM continues to offer employees access to family-friendly flexible work arrangements when at work.
In recognition of International Women’s Day on Friday 8 March, KCGM coloured its Super Pit blast pink and encouraged the community to join in the celebration by viewing the pink blast from the Super Pit Lookout.
The spectacle was a unique way to commemorate and highlight this year’s call #BalanceforBetter, motivating and uniting the KCGM workforce and the wider Kalgoorlie-Boulder community to think, act, and be gender inclusive.
In its commitment to enhance the development of communities in which its employees live and work, KCGM’s Community Investment Program contributed funding to over thirteen local charities and organisations in 2018.
Totalling more than $450,000, the funds were distributed through supporting sustainable long-term community initiatives and as one-off donations to help charitable organisations, sporting associations, and community events.
The three winners of KCGM’s quarterly Safety Innovation Award have chosen to donate $4,000 each to Radio Lollipop, Red Cross Soup Patrol and the Kalgoorlie-Boulder Men’s Shed.
The awards improve safety culture by recognising and rewarding individuals or teams who have implemented safety innovation ideas that eliminate or minimise risks on site.
