The Gold Industry Group and LIVIN are set to embark on their third national tour in August, to empower students across Australia to speak up and provide much needed practical tools on mental health through more than 80 relatable workshops.

Approximately one in two Australians experience mental ill health over the course of their lifetime and research suggests that less than 50% of people experiencing mental ill health will access professional support.

Evolution first aided UQ’s Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology (AIBN) to develop a rapid cancer test using gold nanoparticles in 2019.

Newcrest backs new Australian-made ventilator to combat COVID-19

Newcrest Mining Limited has joined the effort to boost Australian manufacturing and tackle COVID-19, by contributing A$200,000 to the production of a new low-cost Australian-made ventilator.

The OzVader ventilator prototype, which has been developed by Australian company Olitek, is in the final stages of performance and validation testing. Olitek is seeking Australia’s Therapeutic Goods Administration exemption to manufacture and supply the ventilator.

REQ Report: The future looks bright for gold

Australia’s gold exports are forecast to hit a record high of AUD $25 billion in 2019-20 according to the Department of Industry, Innovation and Science’s September edition of Resources and Energy Quarterly (REQ).

The September REQ shows Australia remains the world’s second largest producer of gold, with production increasing by 6.3% in FY 2018–19 to 321 tonnes, equating to 9% of the world’s total supply in 2018.

An annual 2-hour mine tour offered at Evolution Mining’s Mount Rawdon operation in Queensland could become a twice-yearly attraction, providing the local community, tourists and students the opportunity to see first-hand the inner workings of a gold mine, meet the diverse team and explore the many opportunities within the gold industry.

Over Friday 22 and Saturday 23 February, the Mount Rawdon mine tours attracted residents from the Mount Perry community, regional visitors from Gayndah, Biggendon and Bundaberg, and Biggendon PCYC SES cadets.

In 1911, a newly-wed Aboriginal couple found gold in Far North Queensland. The woman became a miner and made history, when she found a new goldfield located near the Batavia River.

Aboriginal people mined the land for ochre and stone long before the First Fleet arrived in Sydney Harbour. As the European gold rushes spread across the country, some Aboriginal people became prospectors too.

Evolution champions environmental rehabilitation pilot program

Evolution Mining has partnered with NQ Dry Tropics (NQDT) to pilot an innovative Environmental Enhancement project, aimed at re-establishing an open body of water and restoring its fauna diversity.

By removing 15 hectares of aquatic weeds within the Kalamia Creek wetlands in Ayr, North Queensland, the project will explore how to prevent their continued spread, and how those weeds can then be harvested, transported to a local landholder and turned into compost, with the resulting organic matter used to improve local agricultural soils and benefit farm productivity.

Queensland gold at the heart of the 2018 Melbourne Cup

Evolution Mining Limited has announced gold produced at its Mt Rawdon gold mine, located 20 kilometres southeast of Mt Perry, has been used to make Australia’s most iconic horse racing trophy for the 2018 Lexus Melbourne Cup.

This is the third consecutive year that Australia's second largest gold miner has supplied the gold to make the Melbourne Cup trophy, but the first time the gold has come from one of its Queensland operations.
