The Gold Industry Group is supporting the Kalgoorlie Boulder Chamber of Commerce and Industry's (KBCCI) inaugural Kal Jobs Expo to be held in Perth at the CCIWA Conference Centre on Wednesday 28 March from 9am-4pm.
With more than 1000 jobs vacant in the Goldfields, the one day event will connect job seekers directly with Goldfields employers who have a range of career opportunities available including Gold Fields Australia, Evolution Mining, Silver Lake Resources, Northern Star Resources, City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder, KCGM and Newmont Australia.
The KBCCI’s CEO Simone de Been said the aim of event is assist businesses in the region with the current labour shortage by connecting employers with job seekers and showcasing the benefits of living and working in the region.
“Businesses can’t grow as they can’t get staff. It’s not just qualified professionals it is across all areas including hospitality, education and mining.
"Kalgoorlie has the highest average income in Australia and I see it as a huge opportunity for families wanting to get ahead financially,” said Ms de Been.
The Kal Jobs Expo will also promote the liveability of the Goldfields.
“There is so much to do in the Goldfields, but I don’t think people know about it. I have been born and bred in the Goldfields and there is always something to do. We go boating, canoeing and skiing on the lakes, yabbying, camping and prospecting.
"The City puts on some amazing free events such as the Multicultural Festival, Sunset at the Soundshell concerts, Lighting of the Christmas Tree, Kids Fest and the list goes on,” said Ms de Been.
The City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder has state of the art facilities such as the Oasis Leisure Centre, Kalgoorlie Golf Course, one of the top golf courses in Australia, Art Centre, great schools and medical facilities.
