The Gold Industry Group partnered with the Channel Nine Network’s premier travel show, Destination WA, to bring three unique gold tourism experiences to the people of Western Australia as part of it’s 2018/19 ‘Summer Series’.
The Gold Industry Group and members The Perth Mint, Newmont Australia and KCGM, are behind the creation of the three gold tourism experiences featured, with additional support from regional tourism organisations Australia’s Golden Outback and Destination Perth.
These included the exclusive Kalgoorlie Super Pit Tour, the virtual Perth #heartofgold Discovery Trail and Go West’s new Mine to Mint Tour.
Led by presenters Carmen Braidwood and Christina Morrissy, the episodes (see right) also include local offerings within the surrounding district of each gold tourism experience: Kalgoorlie-Boulder, Perth CBD and Boddington.
Connecting the wider public with gold and the industry’s community, school and tourism initiatives, the tours highlight the sector’s social commitment, contribution to the nation’s economy and its importance to the country’s future.
The television program airs on Sunday nights at 5.30pm in Western Australia and on Saturdays at 12.30pm nationally, with the aim to showcase the State’s lifestyle and cultural offerings.
Supported by Tourism WA, the show advertises a wide variety of Western Australian locations, businesses and operators across food and wine, events, leisure activities, natural wonders, indigenous experiences, adventure tourism and more, inspiring the public to explore ‘their own backyard’.
