The Gold Industry Group (GIG) is proud to become West Coast Fever’s new Principal Partner for the 2020-21 Suncorp Super Netball League seasons, uplifting its support from Elite Partner with an additional $660,000 commitment.
The announcement made today at the Gold Netball Centre, builds on the GIG’s existing long-term, multi-million-dollar partnership with netball, across the sport in Western Australia.
The gold sector’s support represents the single largest investment in Netball WA’s 95-year history, increasing the spotlight on women’s sport at the elite level.
Positively impacting the State’s most remote regions, the partnership has increased access to elite players, games and clinics; in addition to creating more opportunities, resources and development pathways across Western Australia. This includes the recent appointment of a dedicated West Coast Fever Pathways Manager and will see the 2020 Suncorp Super Netball Pre-Season kick off against Giants Netball in a remote regional area for the first time.
West Coast Fever Managing Director Simon Taylor said he was delighted to announce the Gold Industry Group as Fever’s Principal Partner.
“The Gold Industry Group are committed to supporting netball in Western Australia and we are delighted to continue to share this journey with them, now as the Principal Partner of West Coast Fever,” said Mr Taylor.
“Our partnership with the Gold Industry Group has taken netball in our state to a new level – particularly in our regional areas. We’re excited to work together to expand the sport.
“I’d also like to acknowledge Healthway for their support over the past decade as Principal Partner. Healthway will now become an Elite Partner of West Coast Fever,” he concluded.
Seeing the ongoing value of their partnership, Gold Industry Group Vice Chairperson Kelly Carter said she was looking forward to seeing the additional benefits the partnership will bring to WA’s next generation of athletes and the wider community as the Principal Partner of West Coast Fever.
“We see this as being so much more than just a financial investment, it’s a partnership that transcends all levels of the sport into all corners of the State, advancing both the future of WA netball and our diverse communities,” Ms Carter said.
“As the proud new Principal Partner of the West Coast Fever, we look forward to seeing our support elevate the profile of netball, enable the creation of new talent pathways, build capacity and harness new opportunities, as well as generate unique benefits and connections in the regions.”
Also the Principal Partner of Netball WA and Premier Partner of Shooting Stars, the Gold Industry Group and Netball WA are working together to grow all levels of the sport and WA’s regional communities, engaging with 235,000 participants at clubs and competitions in every major town throughout the State.
In 2020, The Perth Mint joins funding members of the Gold Industry Group partnership, including Gold Fields, Northern Star Resources, Newcrest Mining, Saracen Mineral Holdings, AngloGold Ashanti Australia, St Barbara Limited, Newmont Australia, Gold Road Resources and Ramelius Resources.
As a result of the partnership, West Coast Fever will visit Western Australia’s Goldfields from 6-8 March 2020 to kickstart their year with two pre-season games against Giants Netball on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 at the Goldfields Oasis Recreation Centre in Kalgoorlie-Boulder, in addition to a number of school clinics and an open training session on Friday 6 March.
