The Gold Industry Group is proud to announce the launch of Gold Jobs, a central online hub of employment opportunities and career pathways in Australia’s gold industry for job seekers, employees, students and teachers.
Unveiled today, the national initiative joins a suite of other long-term projects that benefit both industry and the wider Australian community.
As the nation deals with the impacts of COVID-19, Australia’s gold industry has united in its response to the situation. The industry is working with government and health authorities to protect its workforce while continuing to offer a wide range of job opportunities, thereby supporting the public and economy at this critical time.
The Gold Jobs website provides job seekers from across the country with one place to explore a range of vacancies within Australia’s gold industry. It therefore simplifies the job-hunting process and eliminates the need to search multiple platforms.
Job seekers can either browse and apply for vacancies or set up email alerts for the job types in which they are most interested.
The website also features an abundance of helpful career tips and industry insights including profiles of gold workers, employers and regional locations, as well as details about workplace programs, study and training options, scholarships and news articles.
The gold sector’s diverse range of job opportunities has often been difficult to find in the resources industry.
Gold Industry Group Chairman Richard Hayes said the new website was the first of its kind and would help cast a light on the many career opportunities offered by Australia’s gold industry.
“We are proud to unveil this new long-term initiative, which has been created in response to public sentiment and industry feedback,” Mr Hayes said.
“The online hub will streamline the process for Australian job seekers of all ages, abilities and backgrounds in their quest for a career within the gold industry.
“We have always been community focussed and, now more than ever, recognise the need for Gold Jobs.
“Gold Jobs will have a focus on promoting employment and education opportunities in some of Australia’s most remote and regional communities.
“The website will join our other national long-term projects to help educate and support the next generation of industry workers. It will encourage Australian students to follow their passion in STEM fields and become the industry leaders of tomorrow.
“Helping Australia's gold industry to remain strong ensures the precious metal continues to make a vital contribution to our economy and people during these times of hardship. It also ensures gold is always available for essential uses in sectors such as health and medicine,” Mr Hayes concluded.
In line with the gold industry’s commitment to achieving and maintaining a diverse and inclusive workforce, the website consolidates pathways, opportunities and support networks available to all Australians. Female job seekers, Australian Defence Force veterans, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders, and mature-age candidates are all encouraged to embark on a career in gold.
In addition to presenting the gold industry’s latest employment opportunities, Gold Jobs is a useful learning resource for students and teachers alike. The new project complements the Gold Industry Group’s existing National Gold Education Program to inspire and educate the next generation of industry workers.
Gold industry employers already listed on the Gold Jobs website include AngloGold Ashanti Australia, Northern Star Resources Limited, Newcrest Mining Limited, Evolution Mining, Gold Fields, Saracen Mineral Holdings, KCGM, Ramelius Resources, St Barbara Limited, Gold Road Resources, Saturn Metals Limited, Pallion, Macmahon, SMS Mining Services and Swick Mining Services.
