After a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic, the 150th Bendigo Easter Festival was back better than ever in 2022 with Agnico Eagle Fosterville as the major sponsor.
Over the four-day Easter long weekend, Bendigo’s Rosalind Park and surrounding streets were transformed into a vibrant precinct bursting with family-friendly entertainment, stage shows, hands-on activities, live music, roving performers, an Easter egg hunt and more!
An integral part of Bendigo’s cultural fabric, the festival was attended by tens of thousands of visitors from all over Victoria.
As well as being the major sponsor, Agnico Eagle Fosterville played an active role in all the festivities - there was a popular stand where people could learn about the mine’s operations and community involvement, showbags, a photo scavenger hunt, and a gold planning activity that enthralled hundreds of adults and children each day.
Some lucky prospectors even went home with a half ounce Agnico Eagle gold medallion worth over $1,200!
Senior Community Advisor Trudi Jackson said team at Agnico Eagle Fosterville had a wonderful time connecting with the community over the course of the weekend.
“It was fantastic to see the return of the Bendigo Easter Fair and to finally be able to celebrate the 150th year of the festival,” Ms Jackson said.
“In our first year as major sponsors, Fosterville Gold Mine enjoyed the opportunity to be involved in such a well-attended community event and share knowledge of our operations with both locals and the many visitors to the Bendigo Region.”
Agnico Eagle Fosterville also worked with the City of Greater Bendigo to bring an Ore Truck into the city on Easter Sunday, so that festival goers could see one up close and staff were available to answer questions and share interesting facts about these impressive vehicles. The truck then took part in the Torch Procession on the Sunday night, much to the delight of everyone.
