The Gold Industry Group was thrilled to support the Kalgoorlie-Boulder Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KBCCI)’s vibrant Explore the Goldfields Community Expo for a fifth year, celebrating the community and all it has to offer.
Also championed by members Northern Star Resources and Evolution Mining, the buzzing expo saw hundreds of locals, families and tourists alike visit more than 70 community stalls at the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder’s Lord Forrest Complex on Saturday 12 February 2022.
The event presented everything on offer to those living and working in the region. Organisations from across Kalgoorlie-Boulder hosted stalls, including arts groups, charities, sporting clubs and local mining companies.
The Gold Industry Group spoke to locals about the many golden opportunities in education and employment, with many eager to access the resources available through the National Gold Education Program, Gold Jobs website, LIVINWell School Tour and Heart of Gold Australia app, featuring the town’s #heartofgold Discovery Trail.
“Explore the Goldfields Expo was a huge success. This year saw an increase in stallholders and more interaction with the community,” KBCCI President Bill McKenzie told the Kalgoorlie Miner.
“With over 70 organisations in attendance promoting the numerous activities and vibrant lifestyle that Kalgoorlie-Boulder has to offer, this is also an excellent way to get to meet liked-minded people in the area.”
A local choir along with young cheerleading and dancing groups kept the crowd entertained, while the kids flocked to get their faces painted. KBCCI staff kept up a running commentary throughout the day, highlighting each stallholder’s unique offering, including free samples, raffles or giveaways exclusive to the day.
The annual event provides a unique opportunity for Goldfields community groups, cultural groups, not-for-profit organisations, sporting clubs and associations to promote what they do while interacting directly with the public to attract new members and participants.
