The Gold Industry Group (GIG) are excited to announce its new Naming Rights Partnership of the West Australian Netball League (WANL).
The competition will be rebranded as the Gold Industry Group West Australian Netball League for the next three years.
It comes after a record $5 million partnership deal between the Gold Industry Group and Netball in WA was announced last month.
The partnership saw the Gold Industry Group become the first Principal Partner of Netball WA, Elite Partner of West Coast Fever and Premier Partner of Shooting Stars.
Now in its 31st year, GIG WANL will this year see seven new clubs face off for premiership glory across three divisions – Open, 20U and Men’s.
The Curtin Hamersley Comets, East Freo Sharks, Rangers, Souwest Jets, West Coast Warriors, Southside Demons and Western Roar will all enter sides in the Open and 20U divisions, while the Comets, Warriors, Demons and Roar will enter teams in Men’s Division.
Netball WA Chief Executive Officer Simon Taylor was delighted to have the Gold Industry Group join the State’s pre-eminent netball competition.
“WANL has firmly cemented itself as an integral step of the Netball WA Athlete Pathway, so we are excited to boast the Gold Industry Group as the Naming Rights Partner of this competition,” Mr Taylor said.
“This is a significant year for WANL, so to have the Gold Industry Group on board is something we’re very proud of.”
Gold Industry Group Vice Chairperson Kelly Carter said the partnership would help extend their connection with netball, while growing the sport across the State.
“We are proud our support will help to ensure the sustainability of the League, as it embarks on an exciting new chapter, as well as enabling the growth and development of the competition at all levels,” Ms Carter said.
“We a delighted the funding will contribute to an improved in venue experience for fans, a better broadcast experience, and broader marketing and promotion of the competition.”
Games will again be broadcast through Netball WA’s Facebook page, thanks to a partnership with SportsEdge, while matches will also be played at the State Netball Centre, Curtin Stadium, HBF Arena, Eaton Recreation Centre and Mundaring Arena.
The regular season will run from May 31, with the Grand Final to be held on September 20 at the State Netball Centre.
The partnership further cements the Gold Industry Group as a leader in gender diversity both in the resources industry and the broader WA community, enabling it to work with Netball WA to create a clear pathway for women to gain employment in the gold industry, pursue higher education opportunities and become leaders and role models in the sector.
GIG members supporting the landmark partnership include Gold Fields, Northern Star Resources, Saracen Mineral Holdings, Newcrest Mining, St Barbara Limited, Newmont Goldcorp Australia, AngloGold Ashanti Australia, Gold Road Resources and Ramelius Resources.
