Following a successful AGM at the Vibe Hotel Subiaco, the Gold Industry Group is excited to announce the appointment of three new members to its Board of Directors as it looks to build upon its array of impactful programs and partnerships in 2024.

New Board Members:

  • Wayne Bramwell - Managing Director at Westgold Resources Limited, Mr Wayne Bramwell is a metallurgist and mineral economist, experienced director, and mining executive with extensive exploration, operations, and corporate expertise in precious and base metal companies spanning nearly three decades. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Extractive Metallurgy, a Graduate Diploma in Business, a Master of Science in Mineral Economics and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD).

  • Julie Jones - General Counsel and Joint Company Secretary at Gold Road Resources, Ms Jones is a lawyer with more than 19 years’ post-admission experience and has held senior legal, commercial, strategic, and corporate governance roles with companies including Australian Strategic Materials, Matrix Composites and Engineering, Chamber of Commerce and Industry WA, and Iluka Resources. Ms Jones has significant experience in contract, employment, intellectual property, and mining law.

  • Darren Stralow – Managing Director & CEO at Bellevue Gold, Mr Stralow is an experienced mining executive and qualified mining engineer with over 20 years’ industry experience. Prior to joining Bellevue Gold he was a member of the senior management team at Northern Star Resources for over 10 years, with roles including head of operations and head of business development. He has extensive experience in strategy development and execution, building and operating modern underground mining operations, business integration and transformation, and building high-performing teams.

Kristy Reilly, Acting CEO of Gold Industry Group said the new appointments were a “pivotal moment for the Gold Industry Group.”

“We are incredibly excited to welcome Wayne, Darren, and Julie to our board. Their expertise will undoubtedly propel us forward. At the same time, we extend our deepest gratitude to Ian and John for their unwavering dedication and significant contributions to our company’s journey,” she said.

"As we move into 2024, the Gold Industry Group remains committed to expanding and enhancing its array of impactful programs and partnerships.

“Our 'Gold Jobs' initiative continues to play a pivotal role in creating and promoting career opportunities within the gold industry, ensuring a sustainable and skilled workforce for the future. Simultaneously, our 'Gold Education Program' is set to expand, reaching more students and educators with resources and experiences that illuminate the gold industry's significance and its diverse career paths. 

“Furthermore, we are dedicated to strengthening our partnership with Netball WA, West Coast Fever, and Shooting Stars, which is helping to promote women’s sports and connect the growing WA netball community with our industry.

“Through these initiatives and partnerships, we are poised to make 2024 a year of significant advancement, both within the gold industry and in our broader community engagements.”

Mr Bramwell said he was delighted to be joining the Gold Industry Group and was looking forward to working with other Board members during what is a very exciting time for the gold industry.

Ms Jones said that by coming together as an industry, gold companies can collaborate to deliver community initiatives with real impact.

“Looking forward to the journey ahead, where our shared dedication to the industry and community will make a difference,” she said.

Mr Stralow echoed this sentiment and said he was excited to get started.

“I am really pleased to be joining the Board of Gold Industry Group. The organisation initiates and promotes many positive activities both for our industry and local communities, and I look forward to getting involved and adding value,” he said.

The Gold Industry Group also profoundly thanked departing Vice Chair Ian Bamborough and departing Board Director John Mullumby for their tenure on the Board.

Mr Bamborough’s deep understanding of the explorers' domain has been invaluable to the Group’s success. With a keen eye for opportunity, he has helped shape its strategic direction, bringing a level of insight that has been crucial to the Board’s decision-making processes.  

Similarly, Mr Mullumby’s tenure as a Board Director has been marked by his exceptional financial and commercial acumen which has been truly valuable to the Group.

As they move on to new endeavours, the Gold Industry Group sent its deepest gratitude and respect for their contributions to the company and the gold industry as a whole.
