The 7th annual Netball WA Multicultural Carnival welcomed 69 teams from across the State in August at the Gold Netball Centre.
Proudly supported by the Gold Industry Group, the teams represented 22 schools and two clubs and played 150 games throughout the day in 13 divisions from Year 3 to Year 11.
The one-day tournament celebrated our multicultural communities, while developing their netball skills in a supportive environment.
Netball WA General Manager of Community Netball Liz Booth said the Carnival continued to be a highlight on the Netball WA calendar.
“Netball WA is very proud to host this annual event celebrating the diversity of our community and bringing different cultures together to enjoy playing netball in a fun, safe environment,” said Ms Booth.
The Carnival featured a bespoke ball designed by Peyton Eades, a participant and winner of the 2020 NAIDOC Netball Carnival ball design competition, which will also be used at the 2021 NAIDOC Netball Carnival in November.
“Incorporating the NAIDOC ball again this year is a terrific way to not only celebrate our State’s multiculturalism but also acknowledge our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander participants,” Ms Booth added.
The #heartogold marque was packed with players who got their faces painted with their country of origin’s flag and marked their family’s country of origin on the Gold Industry Group World Map before proudly taking to the courts.
Players and families also enjoyed capturing their golden moments in our gold photobooth and practiced their shooting skills using our popular ‘Shoot Gold 4 Netball’ game.
The Gold Industry Group is proud to support the event for a third year running, thanks to gold members Gold Fields, Northern Star Resources Limited, St Barbara Limited, AngloGold Ashanti Australia, Gold Road Resources, Ramelius Resources and The Perth Mint.
