How one discovery is reshaping Caprice Resources’ Island Gold story

When Caprice Resources made its discovery at Vadrians, it gave the company a clear focal point at its flagship Island Gold Project in Western Australia’s Murchison region. Since then, each round of drilling has added another piece to the picture, opening new targets and revealing what Caprice believes could be a much larger gold system. The Gold Industry Group is pleased to welcome Caprice Resources as a new member.

A discovery that opened the door

Caprice Resources is an ASX-listed gold explorer focused on building a significant new gold business in the Murchison, one of Western Australia’s longstanding gold regions.

At the centre of that ambition is the Island Gold Project, where systematic air-core, reverse circulation and diamond drilling is helping the company understand how gold mineralisation extends across the project.

Vadrians was the first major breakthrough, but it has increasingly become part of a broader exploration story.

More recently, drilling at West Star returned 19 metres at 124.74 grams per tonne of gold from 42 metres downhole. While the grade attracted attention, its significance for Caprice lies in how it fits alongside mineralisation being defined at Vadrians, Baxter, Golconda and other targets across Island.

Together, those results are helping the company build its understanding of a multi-lode gold system rather than a single isolated discovery.

The broader Island Gold Project now contains extensive high-grade mineralisation across an approximately five-kilometre corridor and sits within 50 kilometres of established mining and processing centres around Cue, Mount Magnet and Meekatharra.

Defining just how large Island could become

Caprice’s priority for the coming year is straightforward: determine the scale of the Island Gold Project.

Further drilling will focus on extending and defining mineralisation at Vadrians while continuing to test a wider pipeline of targets across the project. Geological, metallurgical and technical work is also progressing towards the company’s first Mineral Resource Estimate.

Early metallurgical testwork has returned gold recoveries of up to 94 per cent through conventional gravity and CIL processing, adding another piece of information as Caprice builds a clearer picture of the project’s potential.

The company is also expanding its position in the surrounding region. Its recent acquisition of the Comet Gold Project, immediately along strike from Island, adds around 40 kilometres of greenstone strike and gives Caprice a larger area in which to continue testing its exploration ideas.

For the team, this stage of exploration is about following the geology rather than assuming where the limits of the system might lie. A new drill hole or different interpretation can change how a project is understood, and the discoveries at Island are continuing to reshape that understanding.

Growing its place in the Murchison

Caprice sees explorers as playing an important role at the front end of Australia’s gold industry, finding and defining the deposits that can eventually support future mines.

As its footprint in the Murchison grows, so too will its relationships with the people and communities around its projects. The company is focused on constructive engagement with Indigenous and local stakeholders and on ensuring responsible exploration remains central to its work.

Joining the Gold Industry Group gives Caprice an opportunity to build on those connections while learning from a much broader network spanning exploration, mining, services, education and regional engagement.

It also gives the company a platform to contribute its own perspective from the discovery and resource-definition end of the industry.

For Caprice, the appeal of gold exploration remains the possibility that the next drill hole can change what is known about a project. At Island, that process is already underway, with each new discovery helping reveal a larger and more complex system than the company first set out to explore.

The Gold Industry Group warmly welcomes Caprice Resources and looks forward to following the next stage of the Island Gold story.
