Building on an Australian icon: Greatland’s next chapter at Telfer

When Greatland Resources acquired the Telfer mine in late 2024, it took stewardship of one of Australia’s best-known gold operations. First producing gold in 1977, Telfer has produced more than 15 million ounces over its lifetime. Today, Greatland is building on that legacy while developing the nearby Havieron project, creating a long-term future for one of Australia’s most significant gold regions. The Gold Industry Group is pleased to welcome Greatland Resources as a new member.

Building on a strong foundation

Greatland operates the Telfer gold-copper mine in Western Australia’s Paterson region while advancing the nearby Havieron project, one of Australia’s most significant recent gold discoveries.

Together, the two projects are designed to work hand in hand. Existing infrastructure at Telfer provides the foundation for Havieron’s development, creating a long-term production hub while reducing both development time and cost.

Since acquiring Telfer, Greatland has moved quickly. A record 240,000-metre drilling program has helped grow the operation’s Mineral Resource from around 600,000 ounces to 8 million ounces, extending the mine’s future while reinforcing its role as the cornerstone of the company’s long-term strategy.

The company also delivered the Havieron Feasibility Study in late 2025, confirming a clear development pathway for what is now Australia’s third-largest underground gold reserve. Together, Telfer and Havieron underpin a substantial long-life gold and copper business in the Paterson region.

Investing in people and partnerships

While production and development remain key priorities, Greatland places equal importance on the communities where it operates.

The company works closely with Martu people and communities across the Paterson region through a range of education, health, business development and cultural heritage initiatives. In 2025, Greatland received the AMEC Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Empowerment Award for its Martu Business Development Program, recognising work that supports Indigenous entrepreneurs through training, employment and business opportunities.

Greatland also partners with local communities on projects ranging from school support and health programs to cultural heritage initiatives and regional infrastructure, reflecting a long-term commitment to the region beyond mining.

Looking to the future

The year ahead is focused on further extending the life of Telfer via another large drill program and undertaking early works for the new West Dome Underground mine area at Telfer, while also commencing the development of Havieron. These operational works will progress alongside the company’s continued investment in community partnerships and regional development.

The company’s growth has also been reflected beyond its operations. After listing on the ASX in June 2025, Greatland joined the ASX 200 just a few months later before being included in the ASX 100 in March 2026, highlighting its rapid emergence as a significant Australian gold producer.

As a member of the Gold Industry Group, Greatland looks forward to contributing its experience across exploration, development and production while continuing to work alongside others to support a strong and sustainable Australian gold industry.

The Gold Industry Group welcomes Greatland Resources and looks forward to following the company’s next chapter in the Paterson region.
